PRMK 241 Etching Studio I

A beginning level course for those students with limited or no experience. It will introduce basic etching procedures and provides a solid foundation, both technical and conceptual so that personal ideas and imagery may be pursed more in depth at the upper level classes. The connection between etching and other media is also examined.

PRMK 341 Etching Studio II

While continuing to master the technical process of etching, students will be encouraged to develop personal ideas and images. Demonstrations will explore further technical possibilities including multiple plate color etching and non-standard techniques. Students will produce a portfolio of editioned prints.

PRMK 441 Etching Studio III

While refining the technical process of etching, concept and image will always be considered throughout the course. There will be continued demonstrations on multiple plate color etching and the use of non-standard techniques. Students are expected to work independently, define their own projects, realize goals they have established and produce a portfolio of editioned prints. The printmaking classes will hold individual and group critiques, have access to the Uffizi museums print collection and will participate in field trips.
